| Valentine filter | CJ the X (taken from "The Neurosis of Cat Valentine"): textually, the process by which the character of Cat Valentine was reduced to a caricature of the original. Felt like executive-level misogyny, called her "lobotomy" by fans. I think this idea is applicable when we're talking about internalized misogyny, though, and masking---how many people (especially women) dumb themselves down/act ditzy just because they have a partner? Or just to be attractive? It is a symptom of patriarchysickness, sure, and of course it's sad. It also happens to be frustrating. |
